My Musings on the Art of Dance vs Performance

Hey lovelies,

It’s Jessie here, founder of Pole Physics. This week, I want to get a bit introspective and share some personal musings on how dance has evolved for me over the years.

You know, it’s funny how we start out at classes dancing (mimicking our teachers as closely as possible) in a very set structured way. Eventually, over time, as the decades pass, it becomes so much more—it becomes an expression of emotion, through simple movement and flow.

When I first started pole, it was all about the show nights, the costumes, the shoes, the new moves, and the wow factor watching our teachers and friends on stage—the rush of the crowd, the applause, the glitter, the lights... so fun, I loved every moment of it. But over time, something began to shift.

As my confidence grew, so did my understanding of what dance could be.

It wasn’t just about nailing a new move or hitting every beat. It became about telling a story, expressing my emotions, and letting my body speak when words couldn’t. I started to see movement as a form of self-expression.

There’s something magical that happens when you let go of the need to be perfect.

You find your flow.

The music becomes your guide: moving becomes spontaneous and real. This is where true creativity comes to life.

In the chaos of daily life, music is my space to find calm and clarity.

Adding movement—with a focus on breath and balance—it’s meditative; a moving meditation, and a way to connect with myself on a deeper level.

Performance for others is powerful. It’s a way to connect, to inspire, to communicate without words.

Dancing for an audience can be raw, or inspiring—but it's almost always vulnerable.

At Pole Physics, we’re here to support your journey. Whether it’s through nourishing your skin, highlighting your tattoo art, or adding to your confidence by giving you that perfect tan, we want you to feel confident and beautiful in your dance.

Our products are designed for movement and to enhance your natural state, so you can focus on expressing your art.

Dance is ever-evolving. It is deeply personal.

What is your relationship with movement?

As the decades pass, often we are less bold, and often not as fluid—but dance can still be profoundly beautiful. So, keep dancing, keep creating, and let your art flow through every movement.

With love and creativity,

Jessie xx
